Mission

The Office of Campus Compliance Services advances the University of Utah’s mission by promoting lawful, ethical, and accountable conduct across campus. In partnership with campus stakeholders, CCS proactively identifies and mitigates legal and reputational risk; assists compliance owners in developing and maintaining clear policies and training; provides confidential reporting, impartial internal compliance reviews and assessments, and partners with campus units to strengthen systems of internal control, protection of rights, and stewardship of public trust. CCS serves as a resource and advisor to students, faculty, staff, and leadership, ensuring that institutional operations align with applicable laws, regulations, and university policies while supporting academic excellence and a positive campus climate.

The Office of Campus Compliance Services will be recognized as a trusted, transparent, and collaborative compliance partner—embedded across University operations—whose proactive education, data-informed oversight, and fair enforcement enable a culture of integrity, protect the University’s people and assets, and advance institutional excellence.

The Office of Campus Compliance Services commits to:

Education & Prevention
Collaborate with compliance owners to ensure they deliver accessible training and clear guidance tailored to campus roles
Policy Stewardship
Collaborate with the University of Utah Policy Officer to maintain up-to-date, published policies and procedures that reflect legal obligations and institutional values
Risk Identification & Monitoring
Use data and collaboration with units to detect and mitigate compliance vulnerabilities
Partnership
Advise leaders and units to enable operations that are both compliant and mission-enabling
Fairness & Transparency
Communicate outcomes and lessons learned while protecting privacy and due process
Continuous Improvement
Measure performance, publish an annual program report, and refine efforts based on metrics and stakeholder feedback
